As part of the Ross Live | 2020 program, Ross is today pleased to announce the Graphite PPC, a new portable production center that is lightweight, feature-rich and available at an incredibly accessible price.

Graphite PPC offers customers a remarkable amount of production horsepower – up to two MEs (and four MiniMEs), four DVEs, six frame syncs, four media stores and two MultiViewers. Capable of handling up to thirteen inputs and up to eight outputs, Graphite PPC also includes the same RAVE audio engine (with sample rate converters) that comes with the larger Graphite solution, as well as the same XPression graphics and clips package also found in its elder sibling. Graphite PPC is incredibly light – it weighs only 42 lbs / 19kg including its dedicated soft-shell carrying case equipped with a pull-out handle and wheels. It’s also extremely quiet – ultra-quiet fan cooling means the system can easily be used in the same space as the talent with microphones. Graphite PPC is simple to set-up and requires just a single operator, so you can now deliver a high impact, high efficiency production even more easily.

Radio has always been a vital source of news and information when crises hit. California’s public broadcasters have traditionally been prepared for nearly any eventuality, such as disasters like earthquakes, floods and wildfires. And now they must be prepared to inform listeners during a pandemic as well.

In San Francisco, NPR member station KQED observed other stations in the U.S. where personnel were unable to access their facilities due to COVID-19 shutdowns, and took action to ensure remote access to their FM‘s Master Control Room and adjacent production facilities.

Custom Media Solutions, a live event video production company based in Cumming, Ga., has provided streaming coverage of The Orange Conference, an annual event in Atlanta for Christian family ministry teams, for years. With its backstage experience, the company created an online presence for people who could not attend. When the COVID-19 pandemic forced Orange Conference 2020 to convert from a live, arena-sized event to a three-day streaming program that began on April 29, CMS relied on its HVS-2000 video switcher from FOR-A Corporation of America to deliver a high-end production to a much larger online audience.

“We automated as much as possible using the features from the switcher,” said Marc Shroyer, president of CMS. “We had a couple of still stores with user flags and a lot of lower-thirds from the ProPresenter presentation system. We used DVEs for picture-in-picture looks that we could display on the multi-view at all times, so we could decide when to use them on the fly.”
