Located at the confluence of the Mississippi and Elk Rivers, the community of Elk River, Minnesota has been called the “City of Energy,” a reference to its long history of harnessing the power of its two mighty waterways. This tradition makes Elk River a fitting home for River of Life Church, a house of worship that radiates positive energy as evidenced by its many outreach programs and dynamic worship services.
The environment inside the roughly 6,000-square-foot house of worship matches the vibrant character of its services, thanks in no small measure to a high impact lighting design created by Excel AV Group (Maple Grove, MN) that uses the Rogue R2 Spot moving head and COLORdash Par-Quad 18 LED par-style fixture from CHAUVET Professional to engage worshippers. This was the second phase of a long range project; an earlier phase also utilized CHAUVET Professional variable white LED fixtures for dimmable congregation illumination.

The Abundant Living Faith Center (ALFC) in El Paso, Texas, is a nondenominational, multicultural church with a large congregation of 30,000+ members and a spacious 3,620-seat main auditorium. The ministry sought to improve the quality of the auditorium stage’s visual backdrop and recently installed a large high-definition LED video wall by Elation Professional.
Design and systems integration company Michael Garrison Associates (MGA), who has a history of cooperation with the church dating back to 2004, replaced the mega-church’s original center projection screen with a 6mm pixel pitch EZ6 LED screen that produces high definition video. The EZ6 video wall is 38’ wide by 20’ high (20 x 11 panels, 1920 x 1080 pixels) and is suspended by 8 chain hoists allowing for vertical movement when desired.

The unique combination of output, pattern control, clarity and sound quality of the QX Series has done wonders for the revamped sound system at Northwest Bible Church (Dallas, TX), where consulting firm Wrightson, Johnson, Haddon & Williams (WJHW) designed another LCR system using QX. All three of Northwest Bible’s QX arrays individually provide over 90 percent coverage to the main floor seating using QX564i for a true Left, Center, Right system.
To complement the QX units, Jim Burdette, WJHW’s senior consultant, used EAW KF394 and KF364 compact, three-way systems for short-throw audio. “Those have a very similar mid-high profile to the QX500’s, so that worked very well,” Burdette said. They rounded out the system with UB52i cabinets for the side and front fills.
