SSL L300 Raise the Bar at Northside Christian Church

In Install Newsby admin

SSL L300 Northside Christian Church Ted RobertsAs part of an ongoing project to upgrade its technical infrastructure, Northside Christian Church has recently purchased an SSL L300 live console.

Founded in a small basement in 1970, Northside has gone from strength to strength, now serving over 5000 people each weekend. Ted W. Roberts, Administrator at the church, provides oversight of technical infrastructure, drawing on his own extensive, high-end live sound and touring experience. Most recently, Roberts helped specify the new console: “It’s very different when you work with only one or two key department heads and then everybody else is a volunteer,” says Roberts. “They have to be set up for success. If you don’t provide the right tools for the job, the volunteers can’t enjoy it because they sense imminent failure all the time.”From the start of the decision making process it was important that the church, and the volunteers, were on-board with the plan. “For a church, it’s a big step. When you look at a high-end console you have to look at it as an investment – it impacts everything that we do in our primary mission, every week. It has to be reliable, it has to be modular enough to grow into the future with us, and it has to produce the end results that we’re looking for.”

Danley and AVE Make Music at American Reformed Church

In Install Newsby admin

American_Reformed_ChurchWay back in 1955 American Reformed Church held its first service with just thirty families in the lovely city of Luverne, located in the extreme southwest corner of Minnesota. After decades of steady growth, the now vastly-larger congregation recently completed construction on a new eight hundred-seat state-of-the-art worship center. Twin Cities-based Audio Video Electronics (AVE) signed on to the project mostly after the facility layout was planned and designed. The architect for the project was Architecture Inc, based is Sioux Falls, SD with Derrick Knight, Derrick Knight Acoustics, as acoustician.

“American Reformed Church is definitely big into music,” said Stefan Svärd, owner and president of AVE. “They have a progressive, contemporary worship style, but their old sanctuary had a distributed system that didn’t have a lot of impact. They were looking forward to getting a great sound system with their new worship center, and it really helped that they invited us to the project early in its development.” Citing superior sound quality, pattern control, and amp-channel-saving passive crossovers, AVE specified Danley Sound Labs SH-60 and SH-95 loudspeakers.

RUSHWORKS Adds BXF to A-LIST BROADCAST Automation and Streaming Systems

In Web Articlesby admin

RUSHWORKSA-LISTmultichannelUIRUSHWORKS, a Dallas area-based software development company specializing in low cost, high performance television production, automation, and streaming solutions, today announced the successful integration of BXF (Broadcast Exchange Format) file parsing into its A-LIST BROADCAST Automation and http://www.rushworks.tv/a-list.htmStreaming Systems.

Working with Myers, a pioneer in broadcast management software, early adopter of BXF and author of the ProTrack traffic and billing system, RUSHWORKS has implemented the most common subset of the SMPTE-developed BXF schema, focusing specifically on the needs of PBS affiliates and others who are seeking alternative software/hardware automation platforms in the wake of Avid’s discontinuation of its legacy Sundance-based systems. Integrating ProTrack with A-LIST gives a significant number of affiliates the ability to migrate to a cost-effective and much less complex system that conforms to their current operations topology.

Roland’s M-5000 Digital Mixing Console Lets Mixer Nolan Rossi Manage Both the FOH and Monitor Mixes for Andrew Peterson’s Tour

In Web Articlesby admin

RossiChristian singer/songwriter Andrew Peterson’s Behold the Lamb of God tour has become a Christmastime staple. Named for the artist’s 2004 LP, the tour brings Peterson across the country with fellow musicians each December. The first half of the concert comprises storytelling songs with each guest artist on the tour; the second half is spent performing Peterson’s Christmas album sequentially from beginning to end. The tour culminates in an annual performance in the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. On this year’s edition of the tour, mixer Nolan Rossi took along a Roland M-5000 Digital Mixing Console to simplify the complicated task of mixing monitors from the FOH position.

“I’ve been touring and doing monitors and front-of-house for about eight years now,” says Rossi, who has worked with a number of other Christian artists including John Mark McMillan and as front-of-house engineer on Crowder’s “Neon Steeple” tour. “Andrew Peterson’s Behold the Lamb of God tour takes four or five guests out on the tour and we’ve got eleven people on stage — strings, percussion, drums, piano, guitars, a lot of singers. It’s a fairly big production.”
