As a nondenominational Christian church, University Christian Church offers its congregation a variety of ministries, including Bible school, home fellowship, and children’s’ and junior and senior high school groups. To ensure the best possible physical plant for teaching and activities, the church recently upgraded its gymnasium into a multipurpose facility that measures 120 by 60 feet, with a ceiling height of 25 feet, and seating for 400 to 450 people, depending upon the seating arrangement. Setting Up Your Projector Properly

from Paul Alan Clifford

Is your projector set up right or did you just get a new one?

First off, make sure your projector is focussed, fills the screen, and has been keystone corrected. Make sure you do what you can to prevent error messages.

Now, to do this, I’d use these features available in many projectors. Leave the blue screen on. That will help you fill the screen. To do that, I’d start by zooming and then look for the corner pinning option on the projector (if it has it). If you don’t have it, keystone correction is the next place I’d look. Also make sure you use “lens” shift if you can.

Altman Lighting Becomes Executive Sponsor of  Behind the Scenes Happy Hour at LDI 2015

In Web Articlesby tfwm

PLASA is excited to announce that Altman Lighting has signed on to become an Executive Sponsor of the 2nd Behind the Scenes Happy Hour, an evening with food, drinks and music from 6pm-8pm on Thursday, October 22, 2015 at the Westgate Las Vegas Hotel.

Altman Lighting is a long-time supporter of Behind the Scenes and, in addition to their support of the Behind the Scenes Happy Hour, along with Altman Rentals also supports the charity through sales of the Ghostlight. “The Ghostlight in the Behind the Scenes’ logo is iconic in the world of technical theatre. The various stories of the Ghostlight’s origin cite safety, honor, and tradition. In the spirit of these values, Altman Lighting and Altman Rentals also supports Behind the Scenes by donating the proceeds of the sale of the Altman Ghostlight. We proudly share this piece of history with our colleagues and this worthy cause,” says Tim Bachman, Western Regional Manager of Altman Lighting. The Ghostlights will be available for sale during LDI at the Behind the Scenes booth.

After a hugely successful event in 2014, attended by over 400 creative technology industry professionals, PLASA is returning to host the biggest pre-LDI party of the year and to raise money for the Behind the Scenes charity, which provides financial support to entertainment technology professionals when they are ill or injured, or to their surviving family members. Funds are granted which can then be used towards medical care, basic living costs and funeral expenses. Behind the Scenes, an initiative of the PLASA Foundation, brings help and hope in times of great need, and has granted over $500,000 since its inception in 2005.

PLASA is currently seeking additional sponsorships for the 2015 event. Information on how to become a sponsor is available online at na.plasa.org/news/LDI/BTS_HappyHour_SponsorPacket_2015.pdf or by emailing bts_hh@plasa.org.

Tickets for the Behind the Scenes Happy Hour will be $60 in advance and will be available for purchase beginning July 15 at http://www.behindthescenescharity.org/btshh.

Multisite Best Practices

Every week over 5 million people attend one of the 5,000+ multisite churches across North America. Truly multisite has become the “new normal” for healthy, growing, outreach-oriented churches. Although every multisite church has a unique “church-print” there are some best practices emerging from the multisite movement.

Learn what’s working from multisite pioneers Jim Tomberlin and Wade Burnett at the Multisite Best Practices Bonus Session at Exponential West, Oct 5 from 1-5pm.

Radical Multisite

Multisite changed how we think  and do church, but very few multisite churches are really maximizing the multiplication principle inherent in multisiting. They are adding campuses more than multiplying them. The multisite church movement is approaching another paradigm shift that will change how we think and do multisite. It is being fueled by a small but  growing number of radical churches who birth multisite campuses, plant churches and keep a multiplication scorecard.

Learn more about radical multisiting with Jim Tomberlin and Wade Burnett at the Radical Multisite Lab at Exponential West, October 6 from 8-11:30am.

For fans of Church history and architecture, 3D imaging may be the second-best thing to time travel, allowing them to experience a medieval church as it existed hundreds of years ago.

Users of a soon-to-be launched website and app will be able to harness modern technology to see architecture that existed centuries ago.

The technology was presented at a recent international conference in Germany. On display was a 3D model of the cathedral of Sessa Aurunca, a town north of Naples.
