Miami_Vineyard_43HiAs a nondenominational house of worship with a contemporary vibe, Miami Vineyard Community Church (www.miamivineyard.com) is neighborhood focused and offers its congregation a wide range of programs. Services are engaging and employ both live music and extensive use of video and multimedia. To help keep their services vibrant in their new sanctuary, the church recently deployed a sound reinforcement system drawn from the catalog of WorxAudio® Technologies (www.worxaudio.com), a division of PreSonus® Audio Electronics (www.presonus.com).

Creative Sound and Lighting Solutions, LLC, of Cape Coral, Florida, an AV design/build firm that handles audio, video, lighting, and acoustics for the commercial and church markets, was contracted to design and implement Miami Vineyard Community Church’s new sound system. All LED Elation Lighting Package for North Carolina’s Raleigh First Assembly Church

In Web Articlesby tfwm

Raleigh First Assembly Church_3CSD Group, Inc., an award-winning creative design/build AVL firm based in Fort Wayne, Indiana, turned to an all LED Elation lighting package for a new large worship space for Raleigh First Assembly Church. A major renovation of a building previously used as a manufacturing facility, the 1600-seat venue houses over 100 Elation fixtures and now has a higher calling as a state-of-the-art worship environment.

Located in Raleigh, North Carolina, the Elation fixtures were installed in the new building in June as the core of a new dynamic lighting system. “Essentially only the shell of the building remained and the entire interior is completely new,” states Doug Hood, President of CSD Group (www.CSDus.com), who was brought on as the design/build partner for sound, video, lighting and acoustics. “This church has a dynamic teaching ministry and a very powerful worship experience. Particularly for worship, we wanted to create an immersive experience where we could really enhance visually what they were already doing musically.”

Metro City Church Expands to Its New Campus with More D.A.S. Audio Loudspeakers

In Web Articlesby tfwm

MetroCityChurch_ExteriorSeveral years ago, Metro City Church, located in the Detroit metropolitan area, outfitted its 900-seat sanctuary with a system of Aero Series 2 products from Spanish manufacturer D.A.S. Audio with assistance from Guitar Center Professional (GC Pro), the outside sales division of Guitar Center that focuses on the needs of professional users. Building on the success of that project, the church recently returned to GC Pro to purchase a second D.A.S. system for a new campus and its touring praise band.

Metro City Church is a very modern organization, employing the latest technology and media, especially music, to engage its congregation, which reportedly numbers about 1,500 people each weekend. According to Paul Johnson, GC Pro Senior Account Manager in Detroit, “Music plays a vital role in their worship services because it’s a great way to be relevant to their congregants. They have a praise band—Alive—that reaches out to hundreds of high school students.” Alive is also the name of the church’s high school division, which meets every Sunday night and addresses the local Downriver community of ninth through twelfth grade students.

Video Preflight Checklists

What do airplane pilots, NASA, and great videographers have in common? The preflight checklist.

Unless you have a simple task, that has only a single step, or a task that’s impossible to miss, you should have it in your preflight checklist.

Avoid adding things into your checklist that you won’t be able to see when you need to do it. For example, having an item in your checklist for camera people to do while they’re using their hands and eyes isn’t helpful to them.

Avoid things that should be on a post-mortem checklist. Try and keep it helpful.

Church Locality: Book Excerpt; part 2

CoverFrontBackChapter 1: The Changing Landscape of Church Space

In 1989 popular author Ken Follett wrote a riveting best-selling novel Pillars of the Earth about the factors impacting the building of cathedrals in the Middle Ages. Those factors influenced church construction and facility use for nearly a millennium. Today there are new factors that are dramatically shifting the way we build and utilize church facilities. We believe that the most relevant shifts in the use and development of ministry spaces can be summarized in six new pillars.

Pillar 1: The Technological Revolution

Technology affects church locality. When I (Jim) came to my church in Colorado in 1991 the latest technology was the overhead projector. Today we have personal computers, digital video, Wi-Fi, smartphones, cloud computing, social media, and Internet campuses. Typically the first impression people have of a church is a virtual one on Facebook, a website, or online campus. People no longer need to place their feet on your specific church location to begin to form their opinions about your congregation.
