First Baptist Church Woodstock Adds DMI-KLANG to Create a Completely Immersive Worship Environment
First Baptist Church Woodstock (FBCW) is no stranger to major undertakings. Spanning three centuries, the church’s current 16,000-member congregation worship in a 7,500-seat worship center in its 435,000-square-foot building on an 80-acre campus in the North Georgia town of Woodstock twice each Sunday. Last year, FBCW notably became the site of the world’s largest permanent installation of L-ISA immersive sound technology, which is paired with DiGiCo Quantum338 consoles at front of house and monitors. Now, the church has embraced immersive mixing in the house and in the ears with its December addition of a DMI–KLANG module, supplied by the church’s integration partner, Diversified.
FBCW’s monitoring landscape is certainly an ambitious one. Every Sunday, there are two completely distinct worship experiences. The first, starting at 9:30am, is choir-driven with a sizable individually mic’d front line backed by a full band and orchestra. After the conclusion of that service, a second 11:00am service begins that is band-driven with a completely different set of songs, musicians, and vocalists.
CrimsonAV is Taking the Guesswork Out of Buying LED with LED Experts Group

“Last year we brought on Larry Drum, and he’s been a real catalyst in developing the LED Experts Group offering. We’ve vetted over 40 different LED manufacturers to find sources that offer both quality and superior performance. We’ve done the homework for our customer, and aim to provide expertise on buying, designing, and a deep understanding of the characteristics of LED displays,” says William Bear, VP of Sales and Marketing at CrimsonAV.
Non-Church-Related Events

Using colored light can be very cost-effective as well and using LED color makes it very easy to transform with the push of a button or the click of a mouse to suit the occasion. Whether it calls for Christmas colors or an Easter sunrise, fixtures like the Chroma-Q Color Force II 12, 48, and 72, and the PROLIGHTS EclCyclorama 100 can be used to wash large swaths of surface area in environments that are protected from the elements, and the EclProfile FS can provide image projection as well as color light projection. For lighting large surfaces, walls, softgoods like drops and curtains, LED color wash fixtures like the Chroma-Q Color One 100X can provide a wide gamut of saturated and pastel colors.
L-Acoustics K2 Deployed for Student Mobilization Conference
For several decades, interdenominational campus ministry outreach Student Mobilization has hosted its StuMo Conference (SMC) at the start of each year as an opportunity for college students on winter break to deepen their faith and friendships. For SMC 2023, held at Frisco’s Comerica Center from January 2nd through 5th, more than 3,000 young adults from across the country converged in Texas to sing, learn, pray, and commune. Throughout the four-day event, AVL provider Relevant Audio + Visual of Wichita, Kansas, sonically reinforced the conference with its new L-Acoustics K2 system, ensuring that those in attendance missed neither a word nor a note.
Although 2023 marked the tenth year that Relevant has provided production for SMC, it served as the company’s first opportunity to deploy its own K2 rig for the client, having invested in the loudspeakers just last year. “We’ve worked with local L-Acoustics rental network provider Onstage Systems to bring in K2 and SB28 subs for the past two years, but with our recent purchase of K2, plus additional Kara II and SB18, we were able to meet the event’s needs with our own in-house inventory this year,” says Relevant Audio + Visual Owner and CEO Chris Derstein. “Considering the variety of stage sessions—including talking heads, high-energy live worship music, and a late-night session with a DJ set—the PA had to cater to all of these tasks exceptionally well, and it certainly did. Both SMC and our team were thrilled with the consistent coverage, SPL, and tonality that the system delivered.”
Multiple Generations of TASCAM Gear Bring the Music to Life for Colemine Records’ Terry Cole
With a passion for everything related to records, Terry Cole not only operates a recording studio; he also operates a record store. As the owner/operator of Colemine Records, music production takes a front and center position. When he is not in the studio, chances are he can be found at Plaid Room Records, a record store that he co-owns. As Cole describes his arrangement, “I love making records and working with artists to create great records. As for creating music, he is a passionate TASCAM user with a combination of old and new—analog and digital.
Describing his arrangement, Cole says, “I oversee all projects at Colemine Records, which can involve anything from simply developing a marketing plan to seeing a project from the ground up, including production, art development, and release.” To accomplish this, Cole is an avid fan of the TASCAM 388 Studio 8, an integrated analog recorder/mixer that uses a quarter-inch open reel tape format. He also has TASCAM digital interfaces: a TASCAM US-2×2 2-in/2-out audio/MIDI Interface with HDDA Mic Preamps and a TASCAM US-16×08 USB audio / MIDI Interface, which is a 16-input audio device. A TASCAM Model 32 2-track, ¼-inch open reel recorder and a TASCAM 424mkiii Portastudio complete the picture.
