First United Methodist Church Live Streams and Records With JVC 500 Series

Social distancing guidelines have impacted everything from everyday life to television production and worship services. O’Fallon First United Methodist Church in Illinois has looked for alternate and creative approaches to reaching its congregation and has offered pre-recorded services and live-streamed worship for its parishioners. In doing so, the church chose to upgrade its camera solution to the 500 Series CONNECTED CAM™ handheld camcorder from JVC Professional Video, a division of JVCKENWOOD USA Corporation, for recording and streaming its worship services.

Chosen by the church’s Director of Technology Tyrone Castle, the GY-HC500 camera was used in the early days of lockdown to pre-record Sunday services. “We were able to record each piece as separate segments, which allowed us to do social distancing better than if we had everyone on stage,” he explains. “At that time, we were even going to remote locations, like lakes and forests, to record our sermons to share with our parishioners. After a while, we progressed to offering drive-in and streamed worship as well. Now, we do full live streaming plus limited in-person services, so it’s been a progression. With Illinois starting to roll things back again, we may end up going to strictly live streaming.”

Martin Audio CDD blend in at Kentucky Church

First Christian Church in Elizabethtown, Kentucky recently called in JCA Media for the latest upgrade to its campus. Having already completed several installation projects for the congregation in the past, JCA Media was on-hand to deliver a Martin Audio main PA system and ceiling speaker installation for the church’s worship areas, classrooms and children’s play areas.

The decision to go with Martin Audio was a simple one. “The tech directors were already familiar with Martin Audio and we always rely on their systems for these types of installations,” explained Alex Peake, Integration Specialist at JCA Media.

JCA Media installed three Martin Audio CDD10s as LCR speakers alongside a pair of SX112 subs flown above the stage to deliver smooth, even coverage across the space. “For this project, the CDDs merged together so beautifully within the main worship area and it was great to see the stage arches accommodating those types of cabinets so well,” stated Peake.

Renkus-Heinz ICLive X Series Helps Ivory Coast Church Deliver Optimal Audio to Thousands Every Day

St. Cecilia Catholic Parish, located in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, has seen its congregation grow significantly over the past 25 years. To accommodate the vibrant congregation, the parish began increasing the number of services and programs being offered. It also expanded a large outdoor, overflow seating area. But as they made changes, it quickly became clear their existing sound system wouldn’t deliver the quality, power, or control necessary to deliver the message.

The church’s main sanctuary is a large, rectangle area with additional left- and right-wing seating spaces on each side. All totaled, the indoor space seats about 1,000 – but that’s only a part of the congregation that flocks to the church. The large outdoor area accommodates even more church members than the indoor space. At least 1,000 additional parishioners bring their own portable seating and tents to enjoy the services outdoors.
