In Audio, Audio Industry News, home_page, Industry News, Web Articlesby Media

Lectrosonics, together with a number of dealers, industry manufacturers and end users, has been spearheading a social media campaign for the last few weeks, Sound is Essential, to emphasize that no matter the medium, sound is critical. Without sound, stories and messages are lost to the viewers, audiences, or congregations. Alongside the campaign, Lectrosonics is sponsoring the Sound is Essential creativity contest, where users can upload videos to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, and tag them with #lectrosonics and #soundisessential. The deadline to enter the contest is January 31, 2021.

The Sound is Essential videos should be short, creative, and focused on demonstrating the importance of sound. For instance, with the sound of the video absent altogether, viewers will likely wonder “what went wrong” at first, while they try to figure out why they can’t hear anything. This content may be in the form of product introductions, instructional videos, tips and tricks, videos, and the like.

Closing out a year that will surely be remembered as the most disrupting for the live sound industry, L-Acoustics announces three new initiatives to help industry colleagues, partners, and clients. Recognizing the impact the COVID crisis had on live event production companies and venues, which remained idle most of the year, L-Acoustics announces a one-year extension of its five-year product warranty. The warranty extension is automatic and applicable to all products still covered under the manufacturer’s warranty as of January 1, 2020.

In addition, following a global survey and roundtable with Certified Providers conducted in the fall, L-Acoustics notified its network of amendments to the company’s commercial terms for 2021. Adapting its discount structure to reflect the network partners’ lower expected turnover, L-Acoustics strives to help them regain their footing more rapidly in the coming year and maintain competitive access to product and support from the manufacturer.

Lakewood Baptist Church Advances Monitoring with KLANG:fabrik

Lakewood Baptist Church in Gainesville, Georgia has purchased two KLANG:fabrik immersive IEM mixing systems for use in its main worship sanctuary. The units were acquired through Production/Co, the Chestnut Mountain, GA-based AV systems integrator, which also installed the system earlier this year, readying it for when the church resumed live capacity-limited and socially distanced services last June. Together, the KLANG:fabrik units provide a total of 32 inputs and 12 individual immersive IEM mixes for the church’s band members, connected through Lakewood’s existing DiGiCo SD9 FOH console.

“They had taken their existing in-ear monitoring solution as far as it could go—they needed a more flexible and sophisticated IEM solution, and the KLANG:fabrik was it,” says Cason Cleveland, owner of Production/Co. KLANG:fabrik is “flexible” thanks to its broad compatibility with widely used audio interfaces, including MADI and Dante, and the ability to use the KLANG:app on any device (iOS, Android, Windows or Mac), or control KLANG by using the DiGiCo integration into SD-Range and Quantum consoles. And “sophisticated” because of the immersive environment that up to 16 individual musicians can create for themselves on stage via each KLANG:fabrik’s high-performance processors, all without any noticeable latency.

In a highly-anticipated debut streamed live from the Jazz Club Karlsruhe, just a few minutes from Lawo headquarters in Rastatt, Germany, the company today unveiled two bright new stars in the Lawo mixing universe: the Phase II of its incredibly powerful A__UHD Core audio engine, and the next generation of Lawo’s most compact, feature-filled all-in-one mixer: the mc²36 audio production console.

Both products are designed to deliver maximum output using minimal space, weight and power requirements. The native-IP A__UHD Core just became Lawo’s new console core for mc² consoles and takes a decisive lead in processing power per cubic centimeter by delivering an astounding 1,024 channels of mc²-quality audio processing in just 1RU, while dramatically cutting power consumption — performance that previously required 5x the power and 10x the rack space. The new mc²36 mixer raises the audio production bar by more than doubling the DSP channel count of the original, as well as introducing an ultra-compact 16-fader version that delivers big performance in the smallest mc² footprint ever. And a major new feature, IP Easy, makes managing IP network devices simpler and more intuitive than ever before.

EAW System Ensures the Message is Heard at Shades Mountain Baptist Church

When the leaders at Shades Mountain Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama green lighted a full renovation of the mega church’s 2,700-seat main worship center, the job of designing and building a state of the art, upgraded audio system was awarded to Blackhawk Audio. In addition to world-class sound and coverage, Shades Mountain also wanted to ensure that the new system was discrete in that it was contained within a very compact grill cloth area. Blackhawk found the solution with EAW and its ADAPTive line, including its Anya™ and Anna™ Loudspeakers and Otto™ Subwoofers, as well as its VFR89i Stage Monitors.

“One of the biggest selling points of the EAW ADAPTive speaker system was that in addition to its audio quality and excellent coverage, it also was low profile and would not visually overwhelm the sanctuary,” says Blackhawk Audio President Rick Shimer. “The previous look of the sanctuary had a very large ‘speaker cluster’ with grill cloth. Ensuring that the PA system was less obtrusive while also offering pristine sound was a main factor for this project; they wanted a particular look and we are able to achieve this using EAW’s Anya, Anna and Otto.”
