Lawo, German innovator and manufacturer of pioneering IP-based broadcast technology, proudly announces that its mc²-series audio production consoles as well as its surface-less operations including mc² Micro Core can be controlled from any place in the world with a decent internet connection—even using a smartphone as a 4G personal hotspot. In a spectacular demonstration for its Lawo Lounge series of weekly webinars, Lawo’s Audio Production team showcased the ease and flexibility with which sound engineers can control a broadcaster’s Lawo audio production environment from just about anywhere.

Inspired by Lawo’s desire to assist audio engineers during the testing lockdown situation, Lawo’s Mix Kitchen is a long-term solution for any scenario where physical access to the broadcast center is cumbersome or simply impossible due to changed travel arrangements, traffic conditions, etc. The most important ingredient of the proposed setup is remote fader control using a Mackie® HUI-compatible fader panel. Lawo’s Mix Kitchen only requires slight configuration adaptions (using supplied templates) to enable the Nova73 console core on the broadcaster’s premises to be remote controlled.

Riedel Communications today introduced DisTag, an all-new distance monitoring device. Worn around the neck or carried in a pocket, DisTag is a reliable and precise instrument that immediately alerts its wearer via haptic, visual, and acoustic signals whenever the mandatory minimum distance to other people is about to be breached.

“After weeks of quarantines and other limitations due to the coronavirus pandemic, our society is gradually returning to normal — but it’s a new type of normal. Slowing the spread of the virus is still a number one priority as key industries, organizations, and institutions start to reopen and people begin returning to work,” said Thomas Riedel, Founder and CEO, Riedel Communications. “In recent months, we’ve learned as a community to adapt to new behavior patterns and situations, and a fundamental aspect is for employees, visitors, and customers to maintain a safe distance between each other. That’s where the new DisTag device comes into play.”

Stage Tec AVATUS Software Release 1.12: Innovative Two-User Operation

Stage Tec, the Berlin-based manufacturer of professional audio technology, introduces interesting new features with the latest software release 1.12 for the AVATUS IP console. One of the most innovative new features is simultaneous operation of AVATUS with two sound engineers. The virtual division of a console, which can also consist of several physical buckets, is currently offered by no other console on the market. The division takes place in blocks of 12 control strips each, which make up one cassette. Both sound engineers have unlimited and independent access to various functions: They have their own SOLO and PFL functionalities at their disposal, each in its own control room. The global layer switching, function selection and synchronous scrolling of lists (Aux, N-1, groups, EQ bands, …) only affect the respective user area. Even functions such as spill, the temporary link function, or Aux-/N-1 to faders (including auto lists) can be altered independently by both sound engineers. Furthermore, both users can access all audio channels simultaneously and work with the same channels (e.g. Ambience).

With the new software release, AVATUS performance and response times are enhanced significantly. And the talk functionality of the two command paths can now be assigned to any user button.
