Pathway Connectivity Solutions, a leader in developing DMX distribution and networking products, announced today the release of the DMeXit Emergency Controller, a new solution for venues that use theatrical and dynamic lighting but require emergency lights to illuminate to levels necessary for safe egress in emergency situations.

When triggered in an emergency event, the DMeXit controller circumvents the normal DMX signal and plays back a predetermined lighting scene appropriate for an emergency. The DMeXit may be triggered by an external contact closure or loss of normal power. DMeXit can also sense the loss of the normal DMX signal and will enter emergency mode. The trigger brings on a fully customizable single universe of DMX which then transmits to four isolated RDM compliant outputs. The controller offers the advantage of an optional integrated Phase Loss Detection device, housed within the same enclosure.

The DMeXit controller offers a number of benefits for venues:

  • Code compliant: UL924 listed, and E1.20 RDM isolated outputs.
  • Labor-saving installation and operation: Features an accessible front panel with power, DMX receive, and emergency mode LEDs, as well as a test button. The optional Phase Loss detection kit is integrated into the enclosure, eliminating the need for a separate box.
  • Multiple DMX/RDM outputs: Offers one universe of DMX input and four optically isolated outputs, all of which are fully RDM compliant when the input is active.
  • Adaptable: Includes a factory default snapshot that sets all levels at full, with the option to record a custom snapshot and three mounting options: wall mount, 19” rackmount (8U), and flush mount (fits between 16” center stud).

The device can restore to normal operation using a programable timeout or automatically with reception of the normal DMX signal. In addition to these features, the DMeXit controller also offers an optional remote restore button using just 2 wire connections with a bi-color LED showing normal and emergency operational modes. The Phase Loss option can be configured for 1, 2, or 3 phase detections and includes two additional Normally Open or Normally Closed contact inputs.
