DAVID FULLER | QSC, VICE PRESIDENT, PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT – PRO DIVISION
David Fuller exemplifies the deep passion many pro audio professionals share for their craft. Reflecting on his journey, he says, “I was always drawn to music, playing in bands as a teenager. But I gravitated toward the technology of live sound and studio recording, and a lifelong audio professional was born.”
Fuller’s career began in his native New Zealand, working at a music store straight out of high school in the mid-1980s. Managing the high-tech department introduced him to keyboards, sequencers, and P.A. systems, providing hands-on experience that became his “bootcamp” for pro audio sales and troubleshooting. Later, he managed pro audio distribution across New Zealand before joining QSC, where he transitioned from international sales to product development. Today, he leads R&D, project management, and product management for QSC’s Pro Audio Division.
An active PAMA board member since 2020, Fuller values the organization for its networking opportunities, describing it as “a club or family” of like-minded professionals. “Some PAMA representatives are mentors to me, whether they know it or not.”
Fuller stresses the importance of staying current, citing daily reads of ProSoundWeb and other industry newsletters. He also shares wisdom from his mentors: “You never finish tuning a sound system; you only stop,” and, “Perfect is the enemy of good.” These lessons remind him to balance effort with practicality.
For aspiring audio professionals, Fuller advises pursuing engineering degrees, noting the high demand for R&D talent in audio brands. “Learn everything you can and find a company whose vision aligns with your values.”
Outside of work, Fuller enjoys walking his beagles and going to the cinema, where even his leisure time is influenced by his passion for audio—especially in theaters equipped with QSC systems.
