GARY BOSS | AUDIO-TECHNICA, U.S. MARKETING DIRECTOR
Gary Boss has been a key member of Audio-Technica’s U.S. team for 33 years, currently serving as Marketing Director. Known for his omnipresence at industry events, Gary acts as a vital bridge between the manufacturer and consumer, navigating the pro and hi-fi audio, M.I., and sound contracting worlds.
Gary’s passion for audio began early, from tinkering with gear to joining his first band and working at an electronics store during high school. “I’ve always been immersed in audio—from gear aficionado to performer to sales,” he recalls. This multi-faceted experience shaped his career, allowing him to balance business needs with the consumer’s perspective.
After college, Gary joined Audio-Technica in an inside sales role, as the company lacked a formal marketing department at the time. As A-T’s U.S. business grew, so did Gary’s responsibilities, eventually leading to the establishment of the marketing department, where he played a pivotal role.
Gary has witnessed and contributed to significant shifts in the industry, including Audio-Technica’s expanded focus on professional markets with the introduction of the AT4033 microphone. He bridged consumer and pro audio worlds by supporting M.I. dealers with marketing materials and training while providing customer feedback to inform product development.
As Marketing Director, Gary oversees both professional and consumer segments, managing product messaging, pricing, promotions, advertising, and more. Staying current involves monitoring publications, social media, and engaging directly with users at trade shows.
A PAMA board member, Gary values the organization’s mentorship and scholarships for emerging audio professionals. His advice to newcomers: “Be humble, generous, and curious. Embrace tasks outside your comfort zone—you never know when that knowledge will prove invaluable.”
Gary’s enduring passion for audio continues to drive innovation and connection across the industry.
