Leading the Way for Live Streaming Services

After just two months of live streaming, the Olivet United Methodist Church in Coatesville, Pennsylvania, has been able to connect with church members from all around the world, including some who have moved away, some who were temporarily home-bound, and other who were on vacation. The new live streaming system was in place just before Christmas in 2018. In that time, the church media team has been able to live stream a candlelight service, the 2018 Christmas service, and a special baptism. The live streaming system has connected house bound parishioners like Tori Parker who commented “Glad I can be here, even from my couch as I recover from surgery.”

The system has also connected members of the church who have moved away from the area, like Agnes Miner who says “What a blessing to happen (though I’m not convinced things just “happen”) to check my Facebook feed just a few minutes before 10 this morning and discover the first live feed of your service! And then to discover Pastor Spiegelhalder was participating, and the service included the baptism of his great-granddaughter! It’s been 40 years since our family lived in Coatesville and were active at Olivet. What a joy to participate in the service remotely!” It’s comments like these that remind us why we live stream church services.

In the included video above, you will get the chance to see a behind the scenes look at the new church video production system installed in the Olivet United Methodist Church. This system includes two PTZOptics cameras, the PTZOptics Producer Kit and a whole lot more!

New hardware-and-app solution turns a phone and external video source into a complete production platform, making it easier than ever before to create high-quality live content
Video content creators ranging from professionals to social media enthusiasts can soon have a better way to share their vision with their audience through high-quality live productions. Streaming solutions startup StreamGear Inc. will come out of stealth mode at tomorrow’s StreamGeeks Summit conference in New York City by launching VidiMo, a new hardware-and-app combination that turns a smartphone and external video source into a full-fledged, virtual video production and transmission facility.
Providing an easier way to create and share engaging live video content, the VidiMo system enables a single person with a smartphone and a video camera to produce multi-source, television-style shows that can be streamed live, recorded or both. While smartphone camera quality has improved over the years, it’s still no match for the rich creative functionality – such as optical zoom, tactile focus, iris control and depth of field – of a dedicated video or DSLR camera. VidiMo lets users have the best of both worlds, bringing an HDMI video source into their smartphone and combining it with the phone’s camera and other sources.

The Summit Church is a Southern Baptist multi-site church that meets at eleven locations throughout the greater Raleigh-Durham area. Founded in 1961 with the mission ‘to create a movement of disciple-making disciples’, The Summit Church named J.D. Greear lead pastor in 2001, where he also serves as one of the church’s Directional Elders and a member of the Executive Team. Recently, the church decided to deploy three video walls at the Brier Creek Campus, which in addition to being the church’s main campus, also serves as the primary broadcast campus. To ensure their investment would help maximize the effectiveness of their services, the decision was made to install the Rhodium Series LED Video Display from Lakeland, FL-based Vanguard LED Displays.
DP Design of Milwaukee, WI, an AV design / build firm with a nationwide reach that specializes in the worship market, was contracted to design and install the new video display system at The Summit Church. Company founder and CEO David Price, who oversees the company’s sales, system design, and installations, elected to deploy a total of 240 Vanguard Rhodium Series P4 video display cabinets. He discussed the project.

To support its transition to HD and ultimately 4K live production of weekly worship services, Long Hollow Baptist Long Hollow Baptist Church Upgrades to Panasonic 4K/HD Studio and Pan/Tilt/Zoom Cameras, 4K+ Laser Projectors for Live Production/Streaming of Worship
To support its transition to HD and ultimately 4K live production of weekly worship services, Long Hollow Baptist Church (Hendersonville, TN) invested in seven Panasonic AK-UC4000 4K/HD/HDR studio camera systems, as well as an AW-UE150 4K/HD pan/tilt/zoom camera and two PT-RQ22KU 4K+ large-venue laser projectors.
Take One Film & Video (Hendersonville, TN) provided design and system integration services for the upgrade.
Long Hollow’s 42,300+ sq.ft. venue—its broadcast campus–houses the main sanctuary, which can hold up to 2600 people. This location’s 8 a.m., 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Sunday services are broadcast live to a satellite campus in Gallatin, TN, as well as to Facebook Live and the church’s web site — https://longhollow.com/. Entire worship services and the pastor’s messages are available on-demand on the site as well.
Tyler Hirth, Long Hollow’s Production Manager, said, “This upgrade was long overdue, with our prior SD gear really aging out. With the imperative to put entire services online–live and for VOD–the standard-definition video looked poor, at best. Also, our new system needed to be robust and flexible enough to support the many conferences and events we host in our worship center.”
