WorxAudio Technologies Helps Henderson Church of Christ Deliver the Message Clearly

In many houses of worship, the ability to clearly understand what is being said is among the biggest challenges the congregation faces. After all, the gospel is only good news if it can be heard. Recognizing the importance of speech intelligibility, the management of Henderson Church of Christ  wanted to ensure the best possible audio clarity in their new sanctuary. With the recent installation of their new sound reinforcement system, the church achieved their goal—thanks to the deployment of line array technology drawn from the TrueLine catalog of WorxAudio® Technologies (www.worxaudio.com), a division of PreSonus® Audio Electronics (www.presonus.com).

Brownsville, TN-based Tennessee Concert Sound, a design / build firm that, in addition to its installation division, also has an enviable track record in production and live event services, was contracted to design and install the church’s new sound system. After consulting with church leaders and surveying the room, the firm ultimately decided to deploy twelve WorxAudio X1i-P powered line array loudspeakers. Jarred Clayton, Tennessee Concert Sound’s Sales and Design representative, discussed the project.

NationalShrineThe National Shrine of St. John Neumann (https://t.e2ma.net/click/ti6wn/h9axrb/9ixa2d), located in the lower church of St. Peter the Apostle Church in Philadelphia, holds a special place for American Catholics. Neumann, the fourth bishop of Philadelphia, is also the first American male to be canonized as a saint. The Shrine, the main church sanctuary (St. Peter the Apostle Church) and a brand new atrium are the location for a wide variety of religious events, and the sound has to be top-notch – no easy task in a traditional church, where an abundance of hard, reflective surfaces create a challenging acoustical environment. That’s why custom sound system design and integration company Monte Brothers Sound Systems, Inc. (https://t.e2ma.net/click/ti6wn/h9axrb/pbya2d) chose microphones from Audio-Technica (https://t.e2ma.net/click/ti6wn/h9axrb/53ya2d) for the facility’s recent renovation, in preparation for the World Meeting of Families events at St. Peter of the Apostle Church, during the visit of Pope Francis in Philadelphia in September.

MBC_sanctuaryMcLean Bible Church, a non-denominational, evangelical Christian church with multiple locations in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, hosts an average of 13,000 worshippers each weekend at its campuses in Arlington, VA, Montgomery County, MD, Loudon, VA, Prince William, VA, and Tysons, its largest site, in Vienna, VA. In order to deliver maximum impact for both its music and message, MBC Tysons—from which Senior Pastor Lon Solomon’s sermons are broadcast live to the other locations—recently became the first-ever house of worship to install an L-Acoustics K2 loudspeaker system.

The system at MBC’s 2,400-seat Tysons sanctuary is remarkable for a number of unique aspects. Designed by L-Acoustics’ own specialists, led by Applications Engineer Chris “Sully” Sullivan, it consists of 10 K2 enclosures per side in a left-right stereo configuration with six SB28 subwoofers per side flown directly behind the main K2 hangs, reflecting L-Acoustics’ core philosophy that consistent directionality of a sound source is critical to a coherent sound experience. Buttressing the main system are eight ARCS II enclosures configured in four arrays of two enclosures each, installed as delay speakers, and 12XT and 8XT enclosures for the front fill.
