99fad78c-de4b-49c8-b6cc-5278ad390315Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, located in Atlanta, Georgia, recently added a new EAW Redline sound reinforcement system to their sanctuary. The church leaders, who are planning a complete sanctuary renovation in the next few years, were looking for an audio solution that would meet their immediate needs and could be re-purposed in the future.

With that goal in mind, they contacted AEE Productions, also located in Atlanta, to assess the situation.

“A high-quality, powerful, portable system like Redline provides powerful sound that doesn’t bottom out and provides the vocal clarity needed for a sanctuary,” explains Yergan Jones, president of AEE Productions. “Because it is portable and self-powered, it has versatility and the ability to be used in any number of applications the church might have in the future.”

High Profile Christian Church Seeks Solace With Low Profile Speaker System

nexo-id-walla-walla-u-cThe Walla Walla University (WWU) Church is located on the campus of Walla Walla University, a private Christian liberal arts university in College Place, WA and just a few miles from Walla Walla. Recently, Sound Image (Escondido, CA) recommended a NEXO ID Series low profile, high-output loudspeaker system as a suitable solution for the Fellowship Hall at the WWU Church. The all-purpose hall seats 150 in stage configuration and is used primarily for worship and Sabbath services, receptions, and meetings.

Daniel Rafuse of Loma Linda (CA) University recommended the NEXO ID system to WWU Church. Sound Image, Rafuse, and with assistance from Yamaha staff, designed the system using NEXO NS-1 software. Rafuse completed final tuning.

“With the low ceiling of the room, we needed something that was very small and could tuck up to the ceiling so we wouldn’t lose any head room, states Brandon Rinas, Design Sales Engineer, Sound Image. We required a speaker system with good output because WWUC has a contemporary worship service once or twice a week for 100+ college students. We also needed a few different horn patterns to fit within the wide room and wrap-around seating area.”

midasActs Christian Church in Midrand, South Africa has continued its MIDAS journey by moving to Generation 3.0 with a recent upgrade to a PRO X mixing system. With demand for higher channel count and more monitor sends to accommodate a mixture of contemporary worship, the church has purchased a MIDAS PRO X, PRO1 and a combination of 5 MIDAS DL stage boxes to replace a PRO3.

The church’s Senior Pastor, Peter de Fin, who is also a former touring sound engineer, has a firm preference on the quality of manufacturer he likes to deploy. “We use quality microphones, loudspeakers and instruments so it was important to us that the console didn’t become a bottleneck in process. We love MIDAS as a brand and the new desks not only look great, but sound great and are very easy to use.”

Acts Christian Church is a New Testament Church with two venues in Midrand, South Africa; a 2,500 seat venue in Glen Austin and 600 seat venue in Vorna Valley. Continually growing, increased flexibility of the new digital mixing system is a must.

Qatar’s Coptic Church Reaches All the Way Back with Renkus-Heinz ICONYX

In Install Newsby admin

untitledAs the only church of its kind in Qatar, St. Peter & St. Paul Coptic Orthodox Church is a unique landmark in the capital city of Doha. It also represented a unique acoustic challenge for Maged Amin, Head of Design – Audiovisual, for leading regional systems integrator Techno Q. With high ceilings, an interior constructed largely of marble, a mezzanine level, and a 50 foot (15m) dome near the building’s entrance, St. Peter & St. Paul was beyond the reach of ordinary loudspeaker technology.

Begun in 2013, the design and creation of the audio system within St. Peter & St. Paul Coptic Orthodox Church has drawn on the determination and skill of all involved. For Techno Q, and for Amin in particular, the project required great patience, as ideas that were proposed at the very beginning were left waiting until the church was ready to move forwards. Nevertheless, throughout the long development, Amin’s opinion remained steadfast – with the church facing acoustic problems that would render a regular system unusable, the best solution was the Iconyx digitally steered array from Renkus-Heinz.

aurora_43smFounded in December of 1999 as a small non-denominational church, Calvary Aurora is one of the many affiliates of Calvary Chapel of Costa Mesa, CA, which today is home to some 30,000 believers. Calvary Aurora is home to a wide range of ministries geared towards children, youth, and adults from all walks of life. The new video system was designed and installed by Brett Nelson of Nelson Audio & Light of Eldon, MO, a sound, lighting, and video integrator that caters primarily to the worship and education markets. After consulting with church leadership to ascertain their goals and expectations, the decision was made to deploy four Eiki projectors: two LC-HDT2000 HD widescreen projectors with 15,000 ANSI lumens brightness, a 3000:1 contrast ratio, and native 2K resolution, and two LC-HDT700 HD widescreen projectors featuring 7,000 ANSI lumens brightness, a 2700:1 contrast ratio, with native 1080p resolution. Mackie DL32R a Blessing for La Junta Church of the Nazarene

untitledLocated on U.S. Highway 50, about 60 miles east of Pueblo, the town of La Junta is home to about 5,000 residents. Approximately 230-almost 5 percent of the population-are members of the La Junta Church of the Nazarene, and the congregation continues to grow.

The church’s contemporary-style services include a full praise band, and sound reinforcement had long been a challenge, due

to a very outdated system that fell far short of their needs. “The previous system had old, mostly blown speakers that should have been replaced ten years ago, two mediocre outboard EQs, and a crossover that was not doing anything,” recalls Lucas Lafferty, co-owner of systems integrator DK Audio Video of Colorado Springs. Lafferty’s team specified a new system, including a 1,600 watt Mackie HD1801 subwoofer with an 18-inch speaker that delivered all of the sub-lows required.

Montreal’s Famed Cathedral Sounds Glorious with ICONYX

untitledIf you seek inspiration and perhaps a dose of humility, you might visit Montreal’s magnificent Marie-Reine-Du-Monde Basilique Cathedrale (Mary Queen of the World Cathedral Basilica). The interior may not be quite as grand as the Vatican’s St. Peter’s, after which the cathedral was modeled, but the gorgeous, 3 million cubic-foot building is a true gem. Inaugurated on Easter Sunday 1894, it was the first building in Montreal to cost more than one million dollars-so expensive that fundraising and construction took 24 years.

West Shore Church Upgrades to Allen & Heath dLive and ME-1s

In Install Newsby admin

untitledSpire AVL of Carslile, PA has replaced an older digital mixer at the West Shore Church in Mechanicsburg with an Allen & Heath dLive S7000 Surface. Spire AVL’s Seth Shoemaker explained the upgrade. “The church’s previous mixer had experienced technical difficulties and added nearly 25msec of latency in its processing,” he said. “We recommended the dLive because we knew it was a reliable mixer with very low latency and the drag-and-drop touch screens would simplify setups. We also provided fourteen ME-1 Personal Monitor Mixers to give the church’s musicians the ability to do their own in-ear monitor mix and we knew the dLive would integrate all of this very nicely.”

West Shore is an Evangelical Free Church with a 1500 seat worship center. The church’s stage includes 112 audio inputs allowing the band or choir to be placed almost anywhere on the stage while maintaining short cable lengths. Additional inputs are located in a catwalk area for overhead mic’ing and ambient pickup. An Allen & Heath DM64 MixRack and three DX32 Expanders bring all of these inputs to the dLive S7000 surface making it easy to patch the system digitally for worship services and other events. A Dante card in the DM64 feeds a digital multi-track recording system in another room.
