Good Help: Training and Trusting Media Production Volunteers

In Continuing Education, Image, Industry News, Web Articlesby Media

I’m a professional broadcast engineer and a minister. In addition to my weekday job at PTZOptics, I’m responsible for all media and audio/visual ministries at my church, Shiloh Ministries. We have a multicamera setup used for recording and live streaming, with all the productions effects you’d expect from a modern-day broadcast. We have the ability to track shots, introduce lower thirds, and even show social media comments. I’m also responsible for visual content used during the service, including video and slides. It’s far from a one-man operation, but I’ve been able to find plenty of good help by cultivating interest among congregants, creating a virtuous cycle of training and cross-training to ensure reasonable boundaries on my volunteers’ responsibilities. Over time, I’ve grown a team of volunteers I can trust to run a full-scale service broadcast without my help.

Genoa Church’s Modern Sanctuary and Lobby Meet the Needs of a Growing Congregation

In Image, Industry News, Web Articlesby Media

Genoa Church partnered with Paragon 360 in the construction and design of their new worship center. This rapidly growing congregation had reached the maximum capacity of their multi-purpose gymnasium and was ready to create the space and atmosphere that they wanted.
Our Paragon 360 team worked with them from the very beginning to assess their needs, define their vision, and specify the technologies that would be necessary to make it all come to life. Our initial needs assessment revealed that Genoa Church wanted to expand its reach to families with young children. We strategically designed the lobby and children’s spaces in support of this goal.

The spacious sanctuary design included a comprehensive package of lighting, video, broadcast, and audio systems. Our fabrication team provided custom-built scenic and stage elements. Each design decision helped them shift towards a more contemporary service; while still providing the flexibility to feature essential service elements for their blended services, like their fantastic choir.

LynTec, a leading manufacturer of innovative electrical power control solutions for professional audio, video, and lighting (AVL) systems, today announced its new LCP Lighting Control Panel Series and RPC Power Control now feature simplified native support for the Building Automation and Control network (BACnet) communication protocol. Featuring the internationally recognized Square D G3 Powerlink™ controllable circuit breaker platform, LynTec solutions can be integrated more quickly and easily into a building automation system employing this open communication standard, saving extensive time and labor on the installation.

“In 2015 we introduced BACnet interoperability into our popular and award-winning RPC breaker panels. This paved the way for building owners who wanted to use our reliable power control solutions for their lighting systems to incorporate them into their existing building automation systems and reduce operating costs,” said Mark Bishop, president of LynTec. “As we’ve continued to deliver new power control products tailored to the increasing needs of the lighting market, we wanted to make it nearly effortless for commercial architectural lighting designers and integrators to set up our lighting control panels into building automation systems. Now they can fully integrate them in a matter of hours — rather than days — and without hiring third-party specialists.”
