DC Metro Church is about eight years old, having launched in a movie theatre in 2007. Pastor David Stine is our lead pastor, and his vision is to rebuild the spiritual walls around the DC Metro area. We have a vision for 17 campuses around the DC Metro area (we currently have three) and three more in New York (pending). All of our sites are co-equal; there is no main site or main campus. We have a central staff and then campus staff separately. I am the IT guy for all our sites; we have one main audio person, one main lighting person, and eventually we will have more staff at the campus level, but for now keeping things centralized keeps things organized. We currently have 35 people on staff. Our average weekend attendance is roughly 3000; we run a contemporary non-denominational worship.
The Kirk, based in Tulsa, OK, is an evangelical church with a large focus on local and international outreach. The Kirk was founded 50 years ago and has two campuses, Kirk of the Hills and Kirk Crossing. Construction was recently completed on Kirk Crossing, which is in Jenks, OK, a suburb of Tulsa. The Kirk’s mission statement is ‘Transformed by Christ to Transform the World.’ We believe that in order to fulfill this we must follow Biblical teachings and first transform ourselves before effecting change without.
The Kirk is unique in the way worship is presented. At the Hills Campus, we have both a traditional and a contemporary worship space, and we run both concurrently. Each offer different music presentations (choir vs. a worship band), and also a different pastor in each venue. Our Crossing Campus offers contemporary worship, also with a live pastor. We have four pastors on staff; our Senior pastor who oversees everything for both campuses, a campus pastor for both the Hills and Crossing locations, and a fourth associate pastor responsible for small groups, bible studies, etc.
