Prescott United Methodist Church Selects WorxAudio Line Array

In Install News by tfwm

Prescott UMC_43HiAfter struggling with a challenging acoustical environment and a sound-reinforcement system that couldn’t distribute sound consistently throughout all areas of their sanctuary, Prescott United Methodist Church decided enough was enough. After all, if the congregation can’t hear clearly, the message is lost. To solve the problem, church management upgraded to a line array system drawn from the TrueLine catalog of Greensboro, North Carolina-based WorxAudio Technologies, a division of PreSonus (www.presonus.com).

CSD Group, Inc., an award winning, nationally recognized Fort Wayne, Indiana, firm that provides design and installation services for audio, video, and lighting, was contracted to design and install the church’s new sound system. Working in close coordination with the WorxAudio Technologies’ engineering team, CSD president Doug Hood and his crew ultimately deployed two WorxAudio X3i-P compact, all-in-one, powered line arrays as the primary loudspeaker system.

Renkus-Heinz IC Live Solves Intelligibility  Issues in Dodge City Cathedral

In Install News by tfwm

Renkusheinz-dodgecity2-1Dodge City’s Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe is a stunning architectural achievement that embodies the classic disparity between traditional and contemporary worship. With its soaring ceilings and open, 270-degree seating, this 1400-seat sanctuary creates a wonderfully reverberant sense of musical majesty, but at the expense of the intelligibility needed to deliver the message.

To address these issues in the 12 year-old building, Amos Yost of Montezuma, KS-based Montezuma Sound was contracted to design and install a new sound system. His solution for creating clear intelligibility amid the room’s glorious reverb was centered on the IC Live digitally steerable array system by Renkus-Heinz.

As Yost explains, the room’s circular design and abundance of hard, reflective surfaces presented a number of challenges, and the existing distributed PA’s speakers were aimed almost straight down at the tile floor, creating uncontrolled reflections that exacerbated the room’s ringing 3.5-second reverberation time.

“The organ and choir music sounded pretty good, but voice intelligibility was sorely lacking,” notes Yost. It was clear that a steerable array system would directly address the room’s issues, but because the sanctuary is a circular space, effective deployment would be tricky.

Glow to Co-Cathedral of St. Joseph

St Joseph CathedralA church is first and foremost a house of worship, but beyond that oftentimes it is also many other things to its congregation. Such is certainly the case with the Co-Cathedral of Saint Joseph.  A majestic 103-year-old building in Prospect Heights, the church is more than the spiritual hub for the 1.9 million Catholics in the Brooklyn diocese; it is also a gleaming symbol of hope for a neighborhood that is clearly moving into a brighter future. When Pope Benedict elevated the church to a cathedral shortly before his retirement in 2013, the diocese began an extensive renovation project that included a new lighting system from The LightTech Group of Jamaica, NY.

Central to the LightTech Group’s design were 18 Ovation E-190WW LED ellipsoidal fixtures that are used to cover the altar and key worship areas with flat, even fields of warm white light.  Illumination from the Ovation fixtures not only creates an enriched visual experience for worshipers at the 1,500-seat church, it also provides ideal lighting for services that are broadcast on the Catholic Channel.

NEW HOPE BAPTIST CHURCH BELIEVES IN ASHLY

In Install News by tfwm

New_Hope_Baptist_InteriorFounded in 1934 by a small collection of the faithful who opened up their living rooms every Sunday in the bustling Michigan town of Grand Rapids, New Hope Baptist Church has grown to a congregation of over 800 active members. To better accommodate its members, the church recently underwent a comprehensive renovation of its 750-seat sanctuary and associated overflow and ancillary use rooms. A new sound system centered on Ashly Audio processing, amplification, and user control is a centerpiece of the project and gives New Hope congregants exceptional intelligibility for spoken word, along with musical transcendence for the New Hope band and praise choir. Critically, the Ashly gear came in at a price point that allowed the church to meet its needs reliably, without breaking the project’s budget. Pro Audio Inc., of nearby Grandville, Michigan designed and installed the system for New Hope Baptist Church.

New Design At River of Life Church

In Install News, Web Articles by tfwm

chauvetLocated at the confluence of the Mississippi and Elk Rivers, the community of Elk River, Minnesota has been called the “City of Energy,” a reference to its long history of harnessing the power of its two mighty waterways.  This tradition makes Elk River a fitting home for River of Life Church, a house of worship that radiates positive energy as evidenced by its many outreach programs and  dynamic worship services.

The environment inside the roughly 6,000-square-foot house of worship matches the vibrant character of its services, thanks in no small measure to a high impact lighting design created by Excel AV Group (Maple Grove, MN) that uses the Rogue R2 Spot moving head and COLORdash Par-Quad 18 LED par-style fixture from CHAUVET Professional to engage worshippers.   This was the second phase of a long range project; an earlier phase also utilized CHAUVET Professional variable white LED fixtures for dimmable congregation illumination.
