ew D1 Vocal Set 2To celebrate the launch of its new evolution wireless D1 digital microphone series, audio specialist Sennheiser is announcing a contest to find the ultimate cover version of “The One and Only”, the classic pop song by Chesney Hawkes. 50,000 euros worth of brilliant prizes can be won, with the very best performer winning their very own professionally produced music video and audio recording of their cover and ew D1 systems for their band.

Runner-up prizes include fantastic new D1 wireless microphone sets, and there are more opportunities to win: the first 20 valid entries will receive an evolution wireless D1 vocal set, as will the ten best covers as voted by the public.

The ultimate winner and best runners-up will be selected by a jury of industry experts from among the 20 best entries shortlisted by a public vote. Jury members include “The One and Only” song-writer, Nik Kershaw, Anastasia Schoeck of Imagem Music, Sennheiser CEO Andreas Sennheiser, and Joel Cassady of Walk off the Earth – a band whose own covers are the stuff of YouTube legend.

Ingo Angres, marketing manager Live Performance and MI at Sennheiser, explains the contest: “The evolution wireless D1 is all about setting your performance free and taking your talent to the next stage. It removes the hassle of complex set-ups and cables and delivers incredible sound quality. When there’s nothing in the way of your creativity, think what you could achieve. That’s the spirit behind this contest – we want to see people take a song everyone thinks they know and set themselves free to make something fresh and new.“

How to enter

If you think you and your band are the ones to take on the challenge, then get creative, interpret the song in your own unique style and record a video of your performance and upload it to YouTube. Then simply visit www.sennheiser-D1.com to submit your entry. The competition will be open to entries from 21 January until midnight on 10th May 2015.

Between 21 January and 19 May 2015, visitors to the Sennheiser contest page can vote for their favourite cover version. The 20 performances with the most votes will be announced on 20 May and will go through to the final round, with the top ten receiving a D1 vocal set. The jury will then proceed to judge the entries according to musical quality, unique style and authentic performance.

The winner, who will receive the grand prize, and the second and third places will be announced on 1 June 2015.
