ULIUli Behringer, founder of BEHRINGER and head of MUSIC, was recently honoured as recipient of the “2016 Global Audio Industry Leader Award” at the annual PALM Sound & Light Awards show in Mumbai, India.

He was recognised for “his visionary leadership and contribution to the professional audio industry by way of breakthrough technologies and products that have significantly contributed to the growth of the global pro-audio industry.”

Behringer said: “I am very humbled and immensely filled with honour and pride to be recognised by PALM India with this prestigious Global Audio Industry Leader Award. When I think back to 1989, I had a very simple dream and that was to create great and affordable equipment for musicians. As a struggling engineering student and musician, playing in piano bars to make a living, I couldn’t afford the equipment to build my own recording studio.

untitledHistoric Church Adds New Audio System with Community I SERIES Loudspeakers

From a bible study group started in 1936, Old North Church has grown to over 1,300 members and attendees. The Church’s modern new building includes a 1,000-seat sanctuary, a library, classrooms, and a family life center (gymnasium).

Executive Pastor Chris Drombetta says the church’s worship gatherings prioritize Biblical preaching and teaching, supported by music, and a blend of traditional and modern expressions of the gospel. Many of these expressions utilize new dynamic technologies, such as the recently installed loudspeaker system.

Drombetta emphasized “the message must be crystal clear.” Yet, the church sanctuary has multiple reflecting surfaces and the church’s original loudspeaker system was forty feet in the air. Thus, despite the addition of front-fill and delayed loudspeakers above the balcony, it was difficult to hear and understand the spoken and sung word in many parts of the sanctuary.

St Mary’s Seminary Gets the ICONYX Gen5 Treatment

untitledThe roots of St. Mary’s Seminary date back to its original charter, established in 1856. The seminary’s 50-acre campus, opened in 1954, the seminary moved to its current site, and has grown to become one of the state’s most respected theological institutions.

The seminary’s gymnasium recently received an extensive renovation, reborn as a multi-purpose facility that hosts sporting events as well as meetings, performances, and other large gatherings. The makeover included new acoustical treatment, large screen video, and a powerful audio system centered on Renkus-Heinz Iconyx Gen5 digitally steered arrays.

“The interior had been gutted and completely rebuilt, and the addition of acoustical treatment certainly improved things,” observes Scott Mowell of Conference Technologies. “That said, it was still a challenging space. The ceiling is about 25 feet high, and there are several large, very tall windows on one wall, with doors and windows on the opposite wall.”

MartinSolutions of Olympia, WA recently installed a Martin Audio CDD system in the main worship space of the new StoneBridge Millard Campus.

A new build at the site of a former outlet store, the campus is built around a worship space in a small rectangular 50 ft. by 80 ft. room with its own set of unique challenges.

As Mike Sessler, Project Lead for CCI explains, “It’s an unusual space with a corner-loaded stage and a low ceiling with lots of HVAC structural equipment that slopes down from 19 ft. to about 17 ft. at the back of the seating area.

“Because the stage is in the corner of a long room, we had an extended throw down the long wall, a short throw to the wall on the other side and another throw to the opposite corner where FOH is located.
