TEKVOX Multi-Display Solution Improves the Worship Experience at St. George Church, San Antonio

St. George Church Installation PhotoWhen St. George Episcopal Church in San Antonio, Texas wanted to improve the worship experience for its parishoners, integrator Multimedia Specialties recommended an upgrade to a flexible, affordable TEKVOX Multi-Display Solution.

St. George Episcopal Church was founded in 1954 and holds two worship services Sunday morning. It had been using a projector and motorized screen in the altar area of its traditional church interior to display text and images, but the technology obscured the altar and had only limited multimedia applications.

To offer a more exciting experience to worshippers, St. George Church opted for a flat-panel solution. “The existing projection screen came down in front of the cross and interfered with the aesthetics of the altar,” says John Joffe, owner of San Antonio’s Multimedia Specialties. “By installing four flat panels and deploying the TEKVOX Multi-Display Solution the church got its beautiful altar back and gained versatility for worship services and other events.”

Masque Sound Provides Heavenly Audio Upgrade to New York City’s Historic St. Patrick’s Cathedral

In Industry Newsby admin

masque ny 1When New York City’s historic St. Patrick’s Cathedral required a major upgrade to its AV system, Masque Sound, a leading theatrical sound reinforcement, installation and design company, answered the call, providing a complete custom audio equipment and installation package for one of the country’s most recognizable and visited houses of worship.

The Cathedral of St. Patrick (commonly called St. Patrick’s Cathedral) is a decorated Neo-Gothic-style Roman Catholic Church, and a prominent New York City landmark. The seat of the archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York, and a parish church, it is located in Midtown Manhattan. On St. Patrick’s Day 2012, the archdiocese announced that the 135-year-old cathedral would undergo a massive five-year, three-phase, 175-million-dollar renovation due to crumbling bricks, faulty heating, and acid rain and pollution damage, which has eaten away at the building’s Tuckahoe marble. Structuretone served as the general contractor and Jaffe Holden was the AV consultant.

flatiron 1Flatirons Community Church in Colorado is renowned for its unique and dynamic atmosphere, attracting 20,000 congregants to the house of worship each week. To best serve such a large amount of people, it has adopted a multi-campus approach that includes video production and live streams between three facilities and to visitors on the Web. Keeping up with the frenetic pace of all that goes into the daily routine, the audio director at Flatirons requires high-quality equipment, including DPA microphones, to ensure every facet of the services are pristine.

Flatirons Community Church Audio Director Bryce Boynton turns to almost all of DPA’s solutions for assistance with his live, recorded and streamed audio needs. These include microphones from nearly all of DPA’s product lines, such as d:facto(tm) Vocal Microphones, d:fine(tm) 66 Headset Microphones, d:screet(tm) 4061 Miniature Microphones and d:dicate(tm) 4006, 4011, and 2011 Recording Microphones, along with all available d:vote(tm) 4099 Instrument Microphones.

“One of the best things about DPA microphones is that discovery is half the process of using them,” says Boynton. “Every day I find a new application for them. Once you become familiar with them, you recognize that the numerous ways you can effectively mic a source continues to grow. It’s all a matter of having a small collection of microphones with additional accessories that allow you to do more, and that’s where DPA really shines.”

A Single Danley SM-96 Turns the Sound Around for Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church

In Install Newsby admin

Trinity_Lutheran_InteriorThe history of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Chicago suburb of Oak Lawn is deep. Founded by German immigrants shortly after the Civil War, the church grew steadily through the 1930s. To accommodate that growth, Trinity constructed a 350-seat sanctuary in 1940 that still serves the church to this day. The Gothic, limestone structure is considerably longer than it is wide, and its stained glass and ornate architecture make it a beautiful and transcendent place to worship. These days, Trinity holds two Sunday services, one in a more traditional style and one that’s more contemporary. Though beautiful, the Sanctuary has been challenged by unintelligible sound quality and poor gain-before-feedback. In order to address these issues, the church called on Peoria-based Advanced Audio & Lighting Systems, who solved these problems with the excellent pattern control and point-source purity of a single Danley Sound Labs SM-96 loudspeaker.
