WorxAudio Technologies Helps Henderson Church of Christ Deliver the Message Clearly

In many houses of worship, the ability to clearly understand what is being said is among the biggest challenges the congregation faces. After all, the gospel is only good news if it can be heard. Recognizing the importance of speech intelligibility, the management of Henderson Church of Christ  wanted to ensure the best possible audio clarity in their new sanctuary. With the recent installation of their new sound reinforcement system, the church achieved their goal—thanks to the deployment of line array technology drawn from the TrueLine catalog of WorxAudio® Technologies (www.worxaudio.com), a division of PreSonus® Audio Electronics (www.presonus.com).

Brownsville, TN-based Tennessee Concert Sound, a design / build firm that, in addition to its installation division, also has an enviable track record in production and live event services, was contracted to design and install the church’s new sound system. After consulting with church leaders and surveying the room, the firm ultimately decided to deploy twelve WorxAudio X1i-P powered line array loudspeakers. Jarred Clayton, Tennessee Concert Sound’s Sales and Design representative, discussed the project.

Tech No Babel, Troubleshooting Techniques: Dealing with Digital

In Web Articlesby tfwm

For some things, digital works great. If you’re hooking up a BluRay player to a tv, 3 feet away, HDMI is awesome. For production, it’s less than ideal.

One thing to consider is that HDMI has a maximum range (according to spec) of 10 meters (or about 33 feet). Look in your sanctuary and estimate how long a cable would have to run to get to your projector. Don’t forget that you have to go up the wall, along the ceiling, and then down to the projector. When you add all that up, 33 feet isn’t very long.

So, you can adapt the signal to SDI which will travel farther or use a set of Baluns to send it over cat5, etc. The problem is that each conversion may introduce difficulties.

Now, don’t forget that digital signals don’t show degradation like analog signals. An analog signal will slowly get fuzzier and lose color. A digital one will just disappear. So, it’s possible to have a signal that “just barely works” and it looks perfect and a signal that “just barely doesn’t work” and it shows nothing. The difference between those two looks like a lot, but in practice, it might just be an oxidized connector or a slightly weaker signal. In practice, this means that an install that “worked perfectly for months” could “suddenly quit working” for no apparent reason.

OCC-Picture-1The Canada-wide 2015 Operation Christmas Child shoebox collection season—an annual initiative of Samaritan’s Purse Canada—starts today as thousands of individuals, families, churches, businesses, sports teams, and community groups begin packing shoeboxes with toys, school supplies, and hygiene items, plus personal notes and photos.

Thanks to $7 donations from generous Operation Christmas Child supporters, Samaritan’s Purse is able to deliver the gift-filled shoeboxes to children around the world living in the midst of poverty, disease, war, and natural disaster.

Last year, Canadians filled more than 700,000 shoeboxes with gifts that shared God’s love and hope with children in the developing world. And since 1993, Operation Christmas Child has collected and distributed more than 124 million shoebox gifts around the globe.
