Part of the popular North Point Ministries group, Gwinnett opens new worship center and installs SD10 FOH and monitor desks as part of long-range growth strategy

Gwinnett Church, a campus of the popular North Point Ministries group comprised of six churches in the Atlanta area, opened a new 1,300-seat auditorium this past January as the main sanctuary for the three services that 3,000 congregants attend each Sunday. But what might be the end goal for some churches is only phase one for Gwinnett Church’s long-range strategy—steel girders and other structural materials are already in place for a planned expansion in years to come that will accommodate upwards of 3,000 people per service.

Book Excerpt: 125 Tips for MultiSite Churches. Pt 1

In Web Articlesby tfwm

Introduction:

Going MultiSite is not for every church. It will not turn around a sick or dying church, but it can be an instrument to extend a healthy one. MultiSite is not a growth engine, but it can be a vehicle for a growing church. MultiSite is not a fad to jump on, but it has become a proven strategy to reproduce healthy, fruitful, growing churches. What began as a “Band-Aid” in the late 1990s for a handful of megachurches that found themselves out of room or restricted by zoning laws, the MultiSite idea quickly proved to be an effective option for any healthy, growing church regardless of size. Though over 50 percent of all megachurches have multiple campuses or video-venues, they only comprise about a third of all the MultiSite churches across America today. Church size doesn’t matter, church health does. What started as a radical idea with a few early pioneers has become the “new normal” across the national church scene. On any given Sunday more than 5 million people attend a MultiSite campus church in North America.

Review: Bose RoomMatch™ Line Arrays and PowerMatch® Amps

In Audio, Product Reviewsby tfwm

by Joe Cichon

black soundBose RoomMatch™ Line Arrays and PowerMatch® Amps Exceed Expectations I can hardly believe that our building project at Black Rock Church, Fairfield, CT, (see Tech Spotlight, October 2014 issue) is done, and we’ve completed our fi rst year cycle. From well over 250 sermons, three major concerts, dozens of meetings, VBS and summer adventure and community events, our sanctuary has been working overtime. So? How did it stack up, according to the original building plan and dreams? A review of every tech aspect would be a book! So let’s focus on the most demanding and meaningful aspect of the project: our sound. After lots of research, I chose the new Bose Line Arrays with RoomMatch™, PowerMatch® Amps and a Bose distribution system, for our new sanctuary. So, just how well did it pan out? BOSE has always been known for their state of the art sound. We are all familiar with the BOSE Sound; refined, discrete and intelligible. It sets the standard for personal audio. Well, now it sets the standard for large format line array installation. The process was smooth and professional. After BOSE set the parameters, they focused on the installation, with AE Global as the integrator. Installation went incredibly well, with very few tweaks needed to their solid plan for the space.

Jim Tomberlin on Church Mergers and Multi-Sites

In Web Articlesby tfwm

Church mergers are increasing dramatically across the USA and becoming a viable option for healthy as well as stuck or struggling churches. A growing number of churches have experienced senior pastor succession through a church merger. Church planters are acquiring permanent facilities and church growth through a merger. One out of three multisite campuses are the result of a merger. Coaching churches through these merger conversations has become a major component of the consulting at MultiSite Solutions.

Recently, I had the privilege to be interviewed by my good friend and strategic partner David Middlebrook with The Church Law Group. David wrote the legal chapter in Better Together:Making Church Mergers Work and serves many of our church merger clients.

What are AV IT Solutions and Why do I Need Them?

In Web Articlesby tfwm

by Brad Gallagher

What_are_AV_IT_Solutions_and_Why_do_I_Need_ThemAV stands for audio video or audio-visual. These are the guys that design the video displays that you look at and the sound systems that you listen to.

IT stands for Information Technology. These are the gents who make sure that all of the data in an organization can be stored and routed from one place to another.

What do these two things have to do with each other? How do they bring forward AV IT solutions?

Digital Audio

We’ve become increasingly good at digitizing audio and video. We break them up into 1’s and 0’s so that we can send them out across the network. Why? Because it cheaper and more efficient. What used to require a bundle of over 100 cables running over 1,000’ in a stadium can now travel down a single network cable. Just as importantly, we can route that audio and video, increasingly, to anywhere on the network.

CHRIST’S CHURCH OF THE VALLEY TURNS TO SHURE WIRELESS

unnamedMegachurch with Weekly Attendance of 23,000 Adopts Shure UHF-R® and QLX-D™

Christ’s Church of the Valley (CCV) started in 1982 in the founding pastor’s living room. Now, more than 30 years later, the church has grown into one of the country’s largest houses of worship, welcoming more than 23,000 people at services each week across six CCV campuses in Arizona’s Phoenix valley. To ensure audio is delivered flawlessly at each CCV location, Brad McCraw, Director of Live Production, turned to Shure wireless systems.

CCV’s main campus is supported with 12 channels of UHF-R® Wireless to mic the minister, lead vocalists, and band members. McCraw designed the audio system to include a mix of UR1 bodypack transmitters and UR2 handhelds with Beta58A® and KSM9 capsules. Aside from amplifying music and readings at the main campus, McCraw relies on UHF-R to live stream the minister’s sermon to all other CCV locations—a big undertaking that requires networked control and crystal clear audio.

First established in 2004, World Changers Church New York seeks to spread the word of God through their worship services held at the former Paradise Theater in the Bronx. As the organization prepared to host their four-day Camp Meeting, Andrew Siu and his team behind the scenes began putting together a production design that would give the annual event a contemporary design. Wanting to use an LED video wall as the focal point of the updated design, Siu enlisted the assistance of Nashville-based PixelFLEX to create a contemporary backdrop using FLEXLite LED tiles.

“At our New York location we have an annual four-day event called our Camp Meeting,” began Siu. “For the production design, we wanted something that was different from our regular services which have a more traditional look where we use a painted backdrop behind the speakers. Knowing that I wanted to go with an LED video wall to create the more contemporary design, we started exploring the potential options available to us and PixelFLEX really gave us the best solution with the FLEXLite LED video tiles.”
