MalibuPres Church Debuts New Sanctuary With EAW QX Loudspeakers

In Install News by tfwm

EAW Malibu ChurchEastern Acoustic Works (EAW) QX Series loudspeakers and SB Series subwoofers were recently deployed as the primary components in the main sound system serving the new sanctuary of Malibu Presbyterian Church in Malibu, CA.

The system was designed and installed by Audio Techniques of North Hollywood, CA, which enjoys a long affiliation with the church. Called “MalibuPres” for short, the church presents services offering both contemporary and traditional elements. The new building was more than five years in the making, necessary after a wildfire burned down the previous facility.

Following that loss, the church initially moved to an area school to host its services, and then erected a 250-seat temporary structure to serve as the sanctuary until a new building could be established. Audio Techniques outfitted that facility with a quality sound reinforcement system headed by six flown EAW KF300 full-range loudspeakers and two SB1000 dual-18-inch subwoofers at stage left and right.

The new sanctuary, with a capacity of about 300, offers a main floor backed by a gently curved two-row balcony. It’s a beautiful space, made primarily of glass and steel with large windows to each side of the platform providing a view of the Pacific Ocean. The attractive aesthetics would seem to make for a challenging acoustic situation, but that’s not the case, according to Bob Ludwig of Audio Techniques.

Bose® RoomMatch® Loudspeakers Chosen for Spring Meadows Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Sanford, Florida

In Install News by tfwm

BoseSpringMeadowsThe new sanctuary at the Spring Meadows Seventh-day Adventist Church in Sanford, Florida, came with the sonic challenge of keeping the reflective surfaces in the fan-shaped 1,000-seat hall, with its hardwood panels and stone walls, from overwhelming the intelligibility of the message from the 72-foot-wide raised platform at the church’s front. The solution was a RoomMatch® loudspeaker system from Bose® Professional, in conjunction with some adroit application of acoustical treatments.

Sound Stage, Inc., an AV systems integrator in nearby Winter Park, designed and installed the space, placing two left-right arrays consisting of two RM12020 modules, an RM9020 module and an RM9050 module each, plus two stacked pairs of RMS215 subwoofers, along with 1.5-inch fiberglass acoustical absorptive panels on the rear and side walls of the sanctuary. The room’s front-of-house mixing position created another challenge, as it is located on the second floor and outside the main audio coverage area. To address that, Sound Stage used a Bose RMU208 small-format utility loudspeaker calibrated to the main sound system’s levels in the sanctuary’s first-floor seating area. The system is powered by a Bose PowerMatch® PM8500N networked amplifier and controlled using Bose ControlSpace® DSP.

CHAUVET Professional Next NXT-1 Panels Rouse Youthful Zeal At 2015 Awakening Conference

In Install News by tfwm

Chauvet1Awakening young people to the power of worship and engaging their zeal and passion to fuel an active and exciting church are the goals of the Awakening Conference, a three-day event held on two successive weekends at the New Life Worship Center.  Indeed, everything about this New England conference proclaims “Youth!”– from the tender age of its founder Jordan Boyce (who was 16 when he started Awakening in 2007), to appearances by  nationally-known celebrity pastors such as Rich Wilkerson Jr. (who served as clergy at Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s wedding), to the event’s free-spirited, electrifying rock festival-like energy.

In fact, it is the Awakening Conference’s resemblance to a major rock tour, complete with super-charged lighting and visual effects, that has made it so successful in getting its message out to young people, says Robert Santilli, Technical Director of New Life Worship Center and the Awakening Conference.  At this year’s event, Santilli relied heavily on CHAUVET Professional’s Next NXT-1 moving head LED panel to transform the New Life stage and auditorium into a full-scale concert production with brilliant colorful lighting, high-energy video and eye-popping special effects.

Discussing why he believes lighting is so important to the Awakening Conference, Santilli explains, “We want the youth who attend to be in a fun, exciting, free atmosphere where they can jump and dance.  One of the tools we use to accomplish this is lighting.  With lighting we create a high-energy, exciting experience for the young people to open up and be free in their worship.”
